Casting male and female actors for immersive horror experience
As part of the development of two immersive venues — AN0MALIE (Paris) & BLACK GARGOYLE (Seine‑et‑Marne, 77) — we are recruiting a new permanent team of male and female performers. We are looking for performers able to embody a demanding artistic vision at the crossroads of genre cinema, psychological thriller and physical horror.
Projects and universes
For the development of our two venues, we are recruiting a new team of permanent performers. We seek artists able to embody an exacting artistic vision at the border of genre cinema, psychological thriller and physical horror.
AN0MALIE (Central Paris – Opening expected November/December 2026): “Something is wrong.” A high‑end immersive psychological experience with a horrific dimension, designed for an adult audience. Here, horror is subtle and narrative, installed through controlled psychological tension. First experience: The Exhibition, a psychological thriller built with the rigour of small‑scale live theatre (8 participants max).
BLACK GARGOYLE (Chevry‑Cossigny, 77): Specialised in raw, immersive horror in a natural setting (private forest). Sessions take place strictly after sunset through two main scenarios: The Exorcism (2h10 of tension) and The Sacrifice (2h20 of extreme survival). Note: Forest shows are intense and physically very demanding; good lifestyle habits and recovery time are essential.
Roles to fill:
For each experience we look for strong temperaments, able to play freely and commit emotionally.
BLACK GARGOYLE (Forest - 77). Scenario: The Exorcism
MOON: The hot‑blooded leader. Athletic profile with natural leadership and innate authority to guide and channel participants. A character with sharp retorts, able to be rough, distant or biting at first, then reveal deep humanity and softness that make participants want to follow them to the end.
PÈRE ANTOINE (or THE NUN): The icy authority. A role with strong spiritual stature and charisma, open to male and female actors. The character is cold, distant and emotionally internalised. Excellent oratory skills are required to declaim prayers with solemn, hypnotic fervour.
JOKE (The Possessed / The Creature): The incarnation of absolute evil. A physically demanding role requiring a disturbing stage presence and total disinhibition (ability to deliver raw, unfiltered lines). Depending on your morphology, the character can be either imposing and physically impressive, or smaller with a sly, visceral and unpredictable performance. The goal is to convey gratuitous, demonic terror.
Scenario: The Sacrifice
ALEX: The two‑faced. A hugely likeable, sunny, enthusiastic and charismatic character whom participants will immediately admire and want as a friend. But beneath the surface hides a major psychological break, capable of turning the character into a manipulative monster.
SAM: Fragile resilience. A gentle, empathic and deeply kind character. Sam tries to take positive control but is completely overwhelmed, becoming the ultimate victim of the experience. The actor must move between touching vulnerability and a sudden shift into furious, demonic madness.
THE UNKNOWN (Multi‑roles / Performance): The chameleon of horror. A true actor’s challenge for lovers of metamorphosis. You will embody up to five different entities and monstrous spirits (murdered or possessed victims). This role requires great bodily plasticity, fluidity to change posture, voice and intention in seconds, and a love of pure performance.
AN0MALIE (Paris - 75) Experience: The Exhibition
THE JOURNALIST: The cynical dandy. A rewarding character role for those who like complex antagonists. A snobbish, arrogant, rude and provocatively wilful figure. Yet their magnetism and art of persuasion give them undisputed influence and leadership over the group of participants.
THE GALLERIST / THE CREATURE: The salon chameleon. Initially a very prim, precious, snobbish character immersed in contemporary art. Later, the character flips into a raw horrific performance. This role demands a full‑blown performer able to move from total refinement to organic terror.
THE PERFORMER (Physical Creature): The anatomical nightmare. A purely physical and visual role dedicated to creature performance and fear management. For technical reasons related to costume and prosthetic constraints, we prioritise very slim/elongated profiles with an appetite for physical theatre and body work.
Global profiles and criteria:
Experience & Aptitude (Required): Strong culture in genre cinema, thriller or horror. Significant or annual experience in immersive formats (escape games, haunted houses, immersive theatre) is indispensable.
Mindset & Transformation: You must be comfortable with darkness, isolation and proximity to the public. The role requires full flexibility for transformation: acceptance of full costumes, masks (sometimes restrictive, hot or uncomfortable) and SFX/makeup application. We seek committed profiles, ready to push through discomfort to serve the work.
Practical information:
Hours: Activity concentrated in autumn/winter evenings and nights, with a restart in spring 2027 for those who wish (variable window between 18:45 and 02:45 depending on season). 2 to 3 slots per evening of 2 hours each.
Venues: AN0MALIE (Paris) & BLACK GARGOYLE (Seine‑et‑Marne, 77)
Transport: Team carpooling via a production vehicle departing from Porte d'Ivry / Bibliothèque François Mitterrand (round trip). Priority to drivers: preference given to candidates with their own vehicle to streamline logistics. If you use your personal car, a reimbursement allowance (fuel + wear) will be fully paid.
Compensation: The company holds an entrepreneur of live performance licence. Contracts and declarations are managed monthly and adapted to each project’s specifics:
BLACK GARGOYLE (Forest) pay: Paid per performance fee (via GUSO). Base fee is for 12 hours, equivalent to 3 sessions of play (performance + room resets + breaks). Pay is based on an internal seniority grid; base fee = €116.23 gross for the first season.
AN0MALIE (Paris) pay: The Paris project uses a different intermittent pay system. Activity will generally operate on an hourly shift basis. The model is more complex; all technical specifics will be explained in person during individual interviews.
Integrated training path:
Theory: A mandatory half‑day theoretical training by video call to present processes.
Role learning (Black Gargoyle): A 12‑hour rehearsal fee is paid per scenario learned. Each scenario includes 3 distinct roles. To maximise playing dates you can learn several roles by attending the on‑site day dedicated to it (1 on‑site day = 1 role).
Safety & Stunt Training (Provided - Black Gargoyle): One mandatory practical training day supervised by a professional stunt coordinator. This high‑level technical training is fully covered and offered by production (not paid as a fee because the pedagogical cost is covered).
Final validation: A final full rehearsal in real conditions (with test clients or internally) will validate your placement on the schedule.
Recruitment timeline:
Phase 1: Selection by application (CV + photos + demo). Until 27 July 2026Phase 2: Remote audition via self‑tape (character sheets and scenes provided). Video submissions accepted until 10 August 2026Phase 3: In‑person casting for shortlisted profiles (situational tests and interviews). From Friday 14 to Friday 21 August 2026Phase 4: Mandatory on‑site trainings. Key mandatory availability dates: 24, 25 and 26 August 2026, and Tuesday 8 September 2026.
Note: The artistic direction will decide after castings which project (AN0MALIE’s clinical setting in Paris or BLACK GARGOYLE’s raw forest universe) best fits your profile.
